Leslie Nielsen - February 11, 1926 – November 28, 2010

Leslie Nielsen, a serious actor who became a comic star with his career-changing roles in "Airplane!" and the "Naked Gun" comedies, died Sunday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was 84.

Nielson died of complications from pneumonia at a hospital near his home, surrounded by his wife, Barbaree, and friends, his agent, John S. Kelly, said in a statement.

In "Airplane!," the 1980 send-up of just about every disaster movie plot imaginable, Nielsen as Dr. Rumack was "an essentially serious actor taking essentially preposterous material very straight," wrote Times Arts Editor Charles Champlin in his review...

Early this morning, Sunday, October 10, 2010, the legendary King of Rock & Soul, Solomon Burke, our father, passed away due to natural causes.

Solomon had just arrived at Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam, the Netherlands for a sold out show at Paradiso with Dutch band, De Dijk. He was on his way to spread his message of love as he loved to do.

This is a time of great sorrow for our entire family. We truly appreciate all of the support and well wishes from his friends and fans. Although our hearts and lives will never be the same, his love, life and music will continue to live within us forever. As our family grieves during this time of mourning, thank you for respecting our privacy.

Malcolm McLaren dies at 64; punk rock godfather managed Sex Pistols.

McLaren was a restless cultural entrepreneur and talent spotter whose ears were attuned to the discontented undercurrents, both in popular music and in British society, that gave rise to punk.

Malcolm McLaren (Londra, 22 gennaio 1946 – New York, 8 aprile 2010) è stato un produttore discografico e musicista inglese, manager dei New York Dolls e "creatore" della band punk dei Sex Pistols.

Le sue intuizioni commerciali, più che un vero credo nelle idee dei punk, lo consacrarono nel bene e nel male come uno dei personaggi di rilievo dell'intero movimento, creando assieme alla moglie Vivienne Westwood, l'abbigliamento dei Pistols e che ispirò l'abbigliamento dell'intero movimento, soprattutto britannico.

Abile manager riuscì in poco tempo a far affermare nel mondo della musica la sua creatura.

All'inizio degli anni settanta cominciò la sua relazione con Vivienne Westwood, con la quale aprirono un negozio di abiti dal quale la stilista diede vita al suo stile, si ipotizza sia stato ispirato dall'artista Richard Hell che aveva adottato il look in questione già in precedenza. Il negozio che cambiò più volte nome, fra cui "Sex" parola significativa per la scelta del nome della futura band dei Sex Pistols.

Ebbe certamente meno successo come musicista, pur creando vari progetti.

La sua canzone "About Her" è presente nel film Kill Bill vol. 2 di Quentin Tarantino.

È scomparso nel 2010 all'età di 64 anni a causa di un mesotelioma
